Leather Looks for Fall

Leather and Fall weather are a perfect match!  I love pairing leather with wool, denim, silk and tweed - so the fall season is a perfect time to mix all of them together.  Leather also translates well from day to night and work to weekend.

But what are the new hot looks for leather this season?

- think biker!  anything moto inspired is hot!  jackets, pants, skirts and purses with motorcycle detailing is the way to go. And it can be paired with everything - it's perfect with basics, it adds some edge!

- t-shirts?! yes, t-shirts!  this fall season we will be seeing leather t-shirts.  with colour blocking, bling details and more...if a solid leather t-shirt is too much for you, try a t-shirt with leather details.

- the leather pencil skirt is a classic with some edge.  but we will be seeing pleated leather skirts and a-line too so if you aren't into the sexy secretary look of a pencil skirt you have options.  I love all three of these leather skirt looks - edgy, office and evening but all fabulous!  Pay attention to fit - when trying on leather it should be form fitting and maybe even a bit tight.  If it is loose, it will only get looser.

- leather leggings are hot! but if you are afraid opt for a legging with a leather strip along the side (like a tuxedo pant) super chic and super slimming.  I found a great pair for under $40 at TJ MAXX.  they can be in a casual work place or for a sexy date night out - add some sexy heels, silk blouse with a cropped tweedy jacket or an over sized slouchy sweater, fabulous makeup and some accessories and hello, gorgeous!  In the image below - I love the mix of leopard print, denim and splashes of colour.  I really think leather leggings will be in style for more than just this one fall season - it's looking like a new classic to me

- leather peplum top.  When you wear structured clothing you look polished, put together and often thinner (all good things).  the leather peplum top works beautifully with a pencil skirt or leggings.  the leather adds even more structure and a level of sophistication.Kim Kardashian rocks this peplum top with metallic pointy toe stilettos (also hot this season), satchel bag, statement necklace and skinny grey jeans.  Take tips from this look it is perfect!

- Don't forget about the accessories - bags, belts and gloves can make an outfit.  We are seeing big satchel style bags in classic leather tones.  A black leather glove is timeless and so chic - add some mystery to your wardrobe with some over sized dark sunglasses. Thick or thin it's up to you and depends on the outfit.  i think every wardrobe needs a mix of belt sizes - don't go too thick it looks containing. Oh and don't forget shoes!!
